WHAT: Township trustees organizational and regular January meeting
PRESENT: Thomas Domes, Dan Gladd and Christen Clemson
Trustees:
• Named Domes as chairman and Gladd as vice chairman.
• Approved committee appointments: Domes as liaison to fire department, road and garage; Gladd to park and Mecca Circle and the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office; and Clemson to town hall and cemeteries.
• Approved paying Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Kuriatnyk $500 per month. Domes serves as fire chief and receives no pay.
• Heard from Domes the Thomas, Galbencia and Brunstetter families are making a donation in memory of family members to beautify Mecca Circle with a sign, bench and other improvements.
• Are discussing plans for a new township hall to be located at the park off state Route 46. Domes also reported work by the Trumbull Tourism Bureau for a historical sign for the township featuring the Erie Dearie fishing lures, which originated locally.
• Are working with the Trumbull County Planning Commission to seek funds for a study for water and sewer service for both sides of Mosquito Lake.
• Heard from Domes the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is planning for a tower and walkway north of the causeway of Mosquito Lake to be used as a fishing pier and for sightseeing.
• Set following rates and fees: town hall rental, residents $50 and non-residents $75; park pavilion rental, residents $50 and non-residents $75; town hall and park pavilion rental for nonprofit organizations, free once per month and after that, the fee is $30 weekdays and $60 for weekends.
• Set ambulance rates at basic life support, $750; paramedic advanced life support 1, $950; advanced life support 2, $1,050; and loaded mile rural areas at $15 per mile.
• Set spring cleanup June 6; Community Day July 25; trick or treat 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31; and fire department basket raffle Dec. 12.
• Set meetings for 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month.
