Engineer’s office plans Kinsman sidewalk project

KINSMAN — The Trumbull County Engineer’s Office is proposing a $228,170 sidewalk improvement project along Main Street and Kinsman Nickerson Road.

Trumbull County Engineer David DeChristofaro said the proposal is to install a 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk along the east side of Main Street (state Routes 5 / 7) from Lakeview Drive north to state Route 87, a distance of 1,311 feet.

The project is scheduled to begin this summer.

He said additionally, the project proposes the removal and replacement of the existing deteriorated 4-foot-wide concrete sidewalk on the north side of Kinsman Nickerson Road from Routes 5 and 7 to Garden Street, a distance of 335 feet.

DeChristofaro said the proposed sidewalk project will link residential neighborhoods within the area.

He said further improvements proposed by the project include linear grading, storm water drainage improvements, including catch basin reconstruction or replacement, conduit replacement, and new concrete curb ramps, truncated domes, detectable warning installation to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act standards, and the application of new stop lines / crosswalk lines as necessary throughout the project limits.

DeChristofaro said no new permanent and / or temporary right-of-way is needed for the project.

Officials said that during construction, a minimum of one lane of traffic shall be maintained along Main Street and Kinsman Nickerson Road. Temporary lane restrictions will be necessary and accomplished using flaggers.

He said road closures and detours are not proposed for the project.
