WHAT: Trumbull County Educational Service Center meeting Monday
PRESENT: Denise Domhoff, Al Haberstroh, Laura Rubesich, Tom Krispinsky and Deborah Patchin
The board:
• Recognized Domhoff for 25 years as a board of education member having served 14 years as a board member for the Bloomfield-Mespo school district and on the TCESC board since January 2016. She previously had been an employee of the TCESC.
• Recognized Haberstroh for his service as a member of the TCESC. His term ends Dec. 31. He also has served on the Southington Board of Education and the Trumbull Career & Technical Center board. He will be replaced by Carol Young, who won the seat in the general election.
• Heard from Arlo Burkart, director of curriculum / instruction, that the center received a $15,000 Howmet Aerospace Foundation grant for serving the needs of exceptional / gifted students in grades 8-12 who have been underserved. He said the students will receive career exploration opportunities such as field trips and mentorships.
• Was informed that a sensory room will be developed for special needs students.
• Approved a $1,000 membership with the Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber.
• Set the organizational meeting for 9 a.m. Jan. 5.
