Council:
• Heard from Service Director Ray Farcas that Keith Lyden resigned his position as utilities superintendent on Nov. 29.
• Approved a request by Councilwoman Robin Zambrini, D-2nd Ward, for Law Director Mark Villano to draw up the necessary paperwork for the wastewater treatment superintendent’s salary to be increased to $80,000 a year, with two additional weeks of vacation, effective Jan. 1, 2026.
• Approved a request by Zambrini for Villano to draw up the necessary paperwork to increase the pay of the mayor’s secretary to $47,000 a year, effective Jan. 1, 2026.
• Approved passing a resolution requiring any individual under the age of 16 operating a class I or class II electric bicycle or electric scooter to wear a DOT-approved helmet.
• Approved passing an operating budget for the city and establishing appropriations in various city funds for the 2026 fiscal year.
• Gave second reading to establishing monthly health insurance premiums for the 2026 calendar year.
• Gave second reading to authorizing Mayor Ben Kyle to enter a contract or contracts for the sale of municipal-owned Transmission LLC, a subsidiary of American Municipal Power Inc.
• Gave second reading to adopting a new zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations for the city.
