Car found in Mahoning River in Leavittsburg

WARREN TOWNSHIP — Crews were on scene Friday along the Mahoning River in Leavittsburg to get a car removed from the water.

A spokesman for the Warren Township Fire Department said the vehicle is believed to have been submerged in the water for some time and is now visible because the water level in the Mahoning River is lower as work is being done to remove the Leavittsburg Dam.

The spokesman said they suspect more vehicles and other items will begin appearing as the water level goes down.

The vehicle was found near the intersection of Nelson Mosier and Park roads. A tow truck was at the scene.
