Bloomfield gets $5K grant for headsets
BLOOMFIELD — Students at Bloomfield High School soon will have a new way to immerse themselves in learning, thanks to a grant.
School officials announced Monday that the school was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Ohio STEM Learning and Battelle for its “Virtual Access, Real Opportunities” project. The school is the only Trumbull County school to receive the grant in 2025, according to a news release.
The release states that through the project, Bloomfield High School will purchase a classroom set of virtual reality headsets, which will give students access to technology that will extend learning beyond “traditional classroom walls” — through virtual field trips and exploring new environments.
School officials extended their thanks to the Ohio STEM Learning Network and Battelle for its support of advancing STEM education.
Nearly 200 projects in 68 counties statewide received a total of $900,000 in funds. The funds covered 165 schools in 130 school districts, according to a news release from the Ohio STEM Learning Network.
The Leetonia Exempted Village School District in Columbiana County also received funds, as did the Northeast Ohio Impact Academy and Valley STEM+ME2 Academy in Mahoning County.
