Area police tout collection’s success
The Ohio State Highway Patrol teamed up with local police departments Saturday, collecting nonperishable food and monetary donations for those in need.
Lt. David Zatvarnicky of the OSHP said the Bazetta collection site at Walmart collected $3,100 in monetary donations and 10 shopping carts full of food.
He said the Champion collection site at Sparkle Market collected 5,200 pounds of food. The countywide event included other locations, including Howland and Newton Falls, with totals still being compiled.
