WHAT: Township trustees meeting Monday

PRESENT: Jeff Davis, Lynn Michalec and Todd Williams

Trustees:

• Approved the purchase of a new laptop computer for the fire chief for $549.

• Approved payment to J.E. Matyko for culvert repairs for $6,870.

• Approved payment to Trumbull County 911 for quarters three and four for $3,420.

• Approved renewal of membership in the Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber for $797.

• Approved cyber security policy and implementation as required by Ohio Auditor of State.

• Set trick or treat 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.

WHAT: Board of Education meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Michele Garman, Beth Haddle, Kenneth Wallace, Mark Haddle and Joel Polonus

The board:

• Accepted Mark Haddle’s resignation as the board’s president effective Oct. 8, according to a Sept. 23 email. Haddle will remain as a board member through the completion of the term. Board Vice President Joel Polonus was recognized as the board’s new president, effective the same day.

• Nominated Kenneth Wallace as the board’s new vice president.

• Approved Superintendent Russell McQuaide to function as a bus driver, only when the current bus drivers, members of the Ohio Association of Public School Employees Local 611, are unavailable to take field or athletic trips or are absent from their routes. McQuaide will not receive additional compensation for field and athletic trips or substitute driving.

• Approved Wallace as a volunteer softball coach for the 2025-26 school year, pending proof of proper credentials and FBI and BCI check.

• Accepted the resignation of Lori Jones as an elementary music teacher for retirement purposes, effective Jan. 30, 2026.

• Approved Lenora Brogden-Wyatt as a long-term substitute teacher, effective Oct. 1, at a rate of $130 a day.

• Approved Julie Ring as a home instructor for the 2025-26 school year, effective July 1, 2025.

• Approved attorneys from McGown & Markling Co. L.P.A. to serve as the designee for suspension hearings and appeals to be used at the board and superintendent’s discretion as appropriate.

• Approved McQuaide, George Garrett and Michael King as credentialed evaluators for the Ohio Councilor Evaluation System (OCES) 2.0 for the 2025-26 school year.

• Approved Garrett and King as credentialed evaluators for the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) 2.0 for the 2025-26 school year.

• Approved McQuaide as a credentialed evaluator for the Ohio Principal Evaluation System (OPES) 2.0, for the 2025-26 school year.
