Mother IDs man killed in officer-involved shooting
WARREN — The mother of a man fatally shot by police on Fourth Street in Warren on Sunday morning has identified him as Brad M. Bailey, according to Patricia Clark.
The incident, which followed a police chase that began in Champion, ended in an officer-involved shooting on Fourth Street SW, police said.
A call log from Trumbull County dispatch showed that the suspect, now identified as Bailey, allegedly threatened and assaulted a 911 caller and others inside a Bristol Township home before fleeing the residence.
Dispatchers were informed that Bailey was armed with a firearm and may have had suicidal intentions.
Clark said she last spoke with her son on Friday at 10 p.m.
She disputed claims that Bailey was suicidal, stating, “He was going through something, but not to the point where he wanted to die.”
Clark also expressed frustration over the lack of information provided to her about the circumstances surrounding her son’s death.
The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident began early Sunday, with law enforcement responding to the scene at 7 a.m. following a pursuit that originated in Champion.
Fourth and Fifth streets were closed during the investigation.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has been called in to examine the officer-involved shooting, as is standard protocol.
No further details have been released by Warren or Champion police, and the investigation remains ongoing.
