Break-in reported at closed Convenient Food Mart

Staff report

WARREN — The recently closed Convenient Food Mart at the intersection of Elm Road and Larchmont Avenue was broken into overnight between Monday and Tuesday.

According to a Warren police report, officers responded about 8 a.m. Tuesday after being contacted by city operations.

A person who manages the store reported that the break-in occurred sometime after 9:07 p.m. the previous night, when the store was last confirmed secure during a routine check. Upon arrival, officers observed a board removed from the drive-thru window, shattered glass and a large rock on the pavement nearby.

Inside the store, officers found the Newport cigarette drawer pulled out with several packs scattered on the floor and the remaining inventory missing. All Marlboro cigarettes also were reported stolen.

The store manager discovered that the store’s security cameras were disabled, and further inspection revealed that the master cable for the cameras and internet had been cut. The building’s electric meter also was removed.

About 100 packs of Newport and Marlboro cigarettes were reported stolen. No suspects have been identified.

Starting at $3.23/week.
