WHAT: Trumbull County Metroparks board meeting July 24

PRESENT: Kurt Sauer, Steve Maas and Randy Fabrizio

ABSENT: John Brown and Nicolette Darkangelo

The board:

• Approved the purchase of a used 2022 Chevrolet Colorado with 38,232 miles for $20,927 from Cole Valley Chevrolet. Park Executive Director Zachary Svette said the vehicle will be used for transporting mowers and picking up lumber and other items. The board had received three other quotes. Sauer abstained from voting on the motion.

• Heard from Svette sediment removal is taking place by the Leavittsburg Dam, which will take 50 working days, with dam removal beginning in about 10 weeks.

• Approved a permanent easement between the park board and the county for the force main project for the Pendleton / Gilmer sanitary sewer project approved by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

• Heard from Svette efforts are being made to get “Safer Routes to School” funding for the sidewalk project on Educational Highway in Champion.

• Heard from Svette $327,000 in Appalachian grant program funds will be used for bridge work on the bike trail in Bloomfield, projected to be reopened in September.

• Heard from Svette upcoming projects include work on the parking lot at the office in Howland.
