WHAT: Board of education meeting Tuesday
PRESENT: Danielle Scherer, Angela Campana, Mark Harper and Taylor Pease

The board:
• Established the Larry Scherer Science Scholarship Fund to honor the science teacher and former board member.
• Was presented a $4,375 donation from Jill Tellock in memory of her father, Jeff Finley, a local Army veteran, Lakeview graduate and avid golfer. The funds will be used for the girls and boys golf program.
• Approved a payment of $88,417 to the Cortland Police Department for one school resource officer for the district’s two buildings.
• Approved an LED board for the high school gym at $53,457, which will be reimbursed by the basketball program.
• Named Pease as delegate and Campana as alternate to the Ohio School Boards Association capital conference in November. Scherer is the alternate delegate for the conference for the Trumbull Career & Technical Center board.
• Approved an agreement with Hubbard school district to share a French teacher at both high schools through May 22.
• Approved complimentary passes to regular season sporting events for school staff, board members and residents of the district age 65 and older.
• Approved paying for Ohio High School Athletic Association licenses for 17 students in the officiating and game management course at the high school at $60 per student enrolled. Officials said students will work two events for free to help with costs.
• Appointed Treasurer Terry Armstrong as the public records officer designee for the district. Armstrong began as treasurer Aug. 1.
• Approved Kathryn Gastaldo as elementary guidance counselor for 115 days and Sydney Whipkey as elementary guidance counselor at 79 days.
• Accepted the resignation of Brittney Abbott as elementary guidance counselor.
• Approved Melinda Rausch, the bus / transportation supervisor for on-board instructor services in the school district.
• Received a donation of items for the school clinics from the Cortland Lions.
