Seeing Eye: Book club meets Wednesday

BOOK CLUB: McKinley Memorial Library welcomes the Mystery Readers’ Book Club members at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles. Participants will discuss “The Searcher” by Tana French.

MISSING COLOR: McKinley Memorial Library will present “Wondrous Wednesday: Adventure of the Missing Color” at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Children and families are invited to the McKinley Birthplace Home for fun weekly programs. This week, Science Heroes will present Adventure of the Missing Color. Children will discover how fun and colorful science can be through hands-on experiments about chemical reactions, air pressure, physical explosions and more.

CORTLAND STREET FAIR: The Cortland Lions Club will present the annual community street fair Thursday to Saturday in the city’s downtown. The theme of the parade is “Outdoor Adventures.” Opening ceremonies are at 6 p.m. Thursday with Little Miss and Junior Miss Cortland pageants, a pizza eating contest, free bounce house for children and musical entertainment. Friday is Turnbull County schools robotics teams. Saturday is the parade at 6 p.m. with grand marshals Basil and Mary Lou Jarrett. Saturday also will be a Niles SWAT vehicle, Jason Lee of Mosquito Lake Park, and Animal Welfare League, all at 1 p.m.

BALLOON SHOW: The Cortland Library Branch will present the Big Red Balloon Dog Show and workshop at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Registration is needed at 330-638-6335. Children ages 8 to 12 will learn hands on balloon twirling with artist Brad Thompsosn, of the Balloon Vibe. The free event includes storytelling and comedy,

TINY ARTS SHOW: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host a Tiny Art Show. Children can pick up an art kit at the library and also fill out a form. All supplies will be provided. The art show will be July 7 to 31. For information, call 330-652-1704, ext. 3

PHOTO HOLDER: Girard Free Library will host the rock photo holder craft at 3 p.m. today. Smooth river rocks will be used for creating photo holders. All material will be provided. Miniature golf will be at 6 pm. Thursday. For information, call 330-545-2508.

MUSIC ON THE LAWN: McKinley Memorial Library presents Music on the Lawn: The Richie Wilkins Trio, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, on the grounds of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial, Niles. Guests should bring a blanket or lawn chair. Sponsored by the Bauman Estate and Gumm Estate.

SUMMER AVIATION CAMP: The Experimental Aviation Association Chapter 5 will host a weeklong day camp for children in grade seventh to 10th from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. July 7 to 11 at the Geauga County Airport Hangar, 15421 Old State Road, Middlefield. Students will learn about aerodynamics, careers in aviation and parts of planes After the camp, there will be the opportunity to take part in a Young Eagles Flight on July 12, weather permitting, with rain date July 13.
