WHAT: City council meeting May 19
PRESENT: Kevin Piros, Don Moore, Jim Bradley, Kathy Fleischer, Richard McClain, John Picuri, Scott Rowley and Mayor Deidre Petrosky
Council:
• Entered into an agreement with SE Blueprint of Cleveland for the digitization of an estimated 8,000 city maps and drawings not to exceed $10,500.
• Established the wage rate of $16 per hour for seasonal part-time employees of the service department.
• Gave first reading to updating their purchasing procedures for the city, raising the bidding threshold from $5,000 to $7,500 with anything more than $7,500 required to seek three quotes for items.
• Approved the renaming of the bridge on South High Street to the "Cortland Veterans Memorial Bridge" with a ceremony held on Memorial Day. Petrosky said Sen, Sandra O'Brien, R-Lenox, helped with getting the official sign for the bridge,
• Did not act on a motion to purchase office furniture for the interim service director. The ordinance did not receive a second for passage and died for lack of a motion.

WHAT: Township trustees meeting May 6
PRESENT: Jeff Tucker, Dennis Kuchta and Todd Garland
Trustees:
• Reported railroad crossings and humps were removed on Bailey Anderson Road, Benedict Leavittsburg Road and Diehl South Road.
• Declared 10 properties for demolition: 3427 Nelson Mosier Road, 1219 Depot St., 3150 state Route 5, 3201 state Route 5, 3512 state Route 5, 2953 state Route 5, 4774 Shanks Phalanx Road, 3652 Warren Ravenna Road, 1288 Cedar St., and 4620 Kinsman St.
• Heard from residents of Kale Adams Road of problems with four wheelers off Center South Road and Route 5 and also with a property off Kale Adams Road, where people shoot guns for long periods of time, preventing other residents from going outside. Trustees said the township does not have a noise ordinance or prohibition for excessive gun use.
• Discussed issues with the zoning inspector, including junk and inoperable vehicles in parts of the township and what can be done.
• Submitted an application for grant funding for creating a walkway from Church Street to Route 5.
• Set garage sale weekend Aug. 8-10.
