Death of Warren man whose body was found in Cleveland ruled homicide
WARREN — The death of a Warren man that went missing in February was ruled a homicide by medical examiners Wednesday.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting East Cleveland police in the case of Juvar King, whose remains were discovered behind a home on March 17.
He died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner. He had been reported missing by family members on Feb. 4.
Police arrested 28-year-old Nathaniel Crockett of Cleveland on Feb. 20 on arson charges related to a burnt vehicle, but he was released on bond May 2.
While Crockett has a criminal history including weapons offenses and aggravated robbery, he has not been charged in connection with King’s disappearance or death.
East Cleveland Detective Joseph Marche told reporters the investigation centers on key questions about the victim’s vehicle. “We know that he was arrested for arson,” Marche said about Crockett. “There are a lot of questions. How did he get the car? Who did he get the car from? It’s all going to come back to whoever initially got that car. That was the victim’s car, and it was found burned just a couple of days after he was reported missing.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact East Cleveland Police at 216-681-2162. Their department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the fatal shooting death of King. East Cleveland police are also aided by Cleveland police and BCI in the investigation.
