Warren man pleads guilty to 14 counts in child pornography case

Staff report

WARREN — A Warren man pleaded guilty Tuesday to 14 felony counts related to child pornography.

Michael D. Cain, 53, of Mahoning Avenue NW, admitted to five counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and nine counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, all second-degree felonies.

Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Sarah Thomas Kovoor will schedule the sentencing at a later date. Prosecutors said the case began with a cyber tip about child pornography linked to Cain’s devices, prompting a search warrant executed by Warren police.

Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Gabriel Wildman said Cain acknowledged a long-standing issue with child pornography.

Cain, represented by public defender Alexander Keane, will be classified as a Tier 2 sexual offender at sentencing, requiring him to register his address with the sheriff’s office every six months for 25 years.

He faces an indefinite prison term, with a minimum of two to three years and a maximum of eight to 12 years per count. Sentencing will follow a background investigation by probation officers.

Starting at $3.23/week.
