Woman gets probation for child endangerment

Staff reporter

WARREN — A Niles woman was sentenced to three years of probation and 100 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a charge of third-degree child endangering, according to court officials.

Brianna McNeese, 29, of Frederick Street, Niles, entered her plea on Dec. 18, 2024, following an investigation by Niles police.

The case stemmed from an incident in which McNeese and her husband fell asleep on a couch with their then 7-week-old son, who was mauled by a German Shepherd in the home.

The infant suffered life-threatening injuries, including a lacerated liver and other internal wounds, and spent an extended period recovering at Akron Children’s Hospital. Medical personnel reported that the child, now nearly 1 year old, is expected to make a full recovery.

During sentencing, the judge noted that McNeese received probation due to her lack of a prior criminal record, genuine remorse and a low risk of reoffending.

McNeese’s husband, Dillion Gallagher, also pleaded guilty to a charge of child endangering in December 2024. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 9.

Starting at $3.23/week.
