WHAT: Village council meeting Monday
PRESENT: Robert Bond, Ernie Bowen, Jessica Blank, Jamie Moseley. Howard Sheely and Mayor Jackie Woodward
ABSENT: Lamar Liming
Council:
•Approved hiring Nicholas Jones as a police officer.
•Formed a new committee of Woodward, Bond, Bowen and representative of the Board of Public Affairs to review requests for quotations for the booster station project.
•Approved the purchase of up to 1,200 tons of salt from Kush Creative Outdoors of Strongsville at $82 per ton.
•Approved hiring 10 part-time seasonal summer positions for the street, parks and buildings departments at $13 per hour not to exceed 30 hours per week. The street commissioner will assign the duties.
•Discussed the village newsletter and whether to continue it since more people check the village website for information.
•Approved the school district’s parent teacher organization for a 5K race in the park May 31.

WHAT: Township trustees meeting Monday
PRESENT: Roger Peterson Jr., Richard Viney and Jason Gwinn
Trustees:
•Discussed the difficulty of filling potholes when the ground is frozen.
•Heard from fire Chief Dave Peterson, who submitted a bill for wheel bearings and tire rotations, which were done at Barbe’s garage.
•Heard from the fire chief about a fire department applicant with medical training who wants to join the department. If he is hired, he will need to finish his emergency medical technician training. Peterson also said the department now has three instructors.
•Heard from Fiscal Officer Fran Miller that the township has earned interest on a money market account and gave trustees investment options based on advice she received.
•Heard from Miller that she will check on pricing for roll off containers for the upcoming spring cleanup, which will be in April or May.
•Approved a resolution to place the township’s 1.3-mill renewal levy on the November ballot.
