Girard man sentenced in assault of woman

Staff report

WARREN — A Girard man has been sentenced to two to three years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of felonious assault, strangulation and firing a gun into a residence during a violent altercation last fall.

Charles P. Liccardi, 24, of Taylor Avenue, received the indefinite prison term months after pleading guilty in December to an amended indictment. He appeared before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Sean O’Brien.

The charges stemmed from a Sept. 2, 2024, incident in Warren, where police responded to a shots-fired call on Vine Avenue NE and found a 21-year-old Girard woman who had been assaulted. Liccardi was charged with felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation, as well as felony strangulation.
