New county engineer weighs hiring former commissioner
WARREN — New Trumbull County Engineer David DeChristofaro is considering hiring former Commissioner Mauro Cantalamessa to become his office’s director of Governmental Affairs and Special Projects.
The position is expected to become vacant because the current director, Stanley Bell, is requesting to be transferred to become a sewer line maintenance crew assistant in the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer’s Department, effective Tuesday.
Bell earned $24.91 per hour as the director of governmental affairs. He will earn $21.51 per hour in his new position.
The vote on Bell’s transfer is expected to take place during today’s commissioners meeting.
DeChristofaro said he wanted someone with experience working closely with village, township and city officials.
Cantalamessa, a Democrat, who lost his seat to Republican Tony Bernard in November, served as commissioner for 10 years.
DeChristofaro, a Republican, said he has considered several people for the position. He expects to confirm the hiring by the end of the week.
