WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday.
PRESENT: Julie Stimpert, Brian Axiotis, Kevin Rufener, Brenda Persino, Patricia Benetis and Mayor David Hanson.
Council:
• Announced openings on the treasury investment board, park board and Newton Falls Joint Fire District board. Interested residents can contact the village manager's office.
• Approved a new agreement between the village and Newton Township for the joint fire district effective Jan. 1. The village's annual rate of contribution is $70,837 and township's annual rate of contribution is $55,365, made in semiannual payments. The payments by the village will be Jan. 15 and July 15, 2025. The payments by the township shall be on April 15 and Oct. 15.
• Approved tree trimming of city electric department circuits by Hilscher-Clarke Electric at $21,079. Officials said they want to keep electric circuits free of potential hazards from trees and tree branches.
