WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Brian Axiotis, Patricia Benetis, Julie Stimpert, Kevin Rufener and Mayor David Hanson
ABSENT: Brenda Persino
Council:
• Heard from Rufener that voters voted against the referendum on the removal of the historic sites and structures committee dissolved by council. He said with the “no” votes, council’s dissolve committee will remain.
• Approved participating with American Municipal Power Inc. and other communities for joint bulk purchases and discounts on equipment to keep costs down.
• Heard from Village Manager Mike Novotny that there was one home on Herbert Street that did not receive a connection to the Scott Street sanitary sewer project.
• Heard from Novotny that a new contract with the joint fire district is being worked on and will need to be approved by council.
• Heard from Novotny the remaining new water and electric utility meters are being installed.
• Announced there is a vacancy on the Treasury Investment Board. Interested candidates are to contact the council clerk.
• Announced the commerce association has changed meeting dates to 8 a.m. first Tuesday and 6 p.m. third Tuesday of each month.
• Thanked high school students who recently painted the skate park which had vandalism.
