WARREN -- St. Joseph Warren Hospital last week hosted its annual pumpkin decorating contest where the public could place bids on their favorite pumpkin.
There was a variety of themes, said Gail Bellan, senior administrative assistant at the hospital, and the judges selected "Under the Sea," which was a blowfish made of candy corn, as the winner. A giraffe-themed pumpkin took second place.
The pumpkin that won the People's Choice award and had the most tickets sold had a fall elegance theme featuring several decorated pumpkins.
Each year, different departments in the hospital decorate pumpkins to display for one week and people purchase tickets to cast their votes. Proceeds from the event benefit St. Joseph Warren Hospital Mission Fund.
