WARREN -- A 45-year-old man told police two men fired at a vehicle he was driving near Warren JFK High School, according to a Warren police report.
The incident is alleged to have taken place around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Youngstown Road and Ridge Avenue.
According to a 911 dispatch report, the two shooters, described as black males, exited a gray Honda Civic and fired multiple shots at the victim while he was inside his truck.
One suspect was reported to be wearing a red hoodie, and the other was dressed in dark-colored clothing.
Officers met with the victim in the parking lot of Do-Cut on Youngstown Road, where he recounted the events leading up to the shooting.
The victim explained that the incident stemmed from an iPad that had been stolen from his home by a friend of his daughter a few days prior.
Earlier that day, his daughter spotted the friend with the iPad at the Garden Apartments and began following them in an attempt to retrieve the device. The man joined his daughter in following the suspect's vehicle, possibly near Burton Street.
The situation escalated when the man exited their vehicle near JFK High School and opened fire on the victim's truck. The victim then stated that he quickly turned his truck around in a grassy lot near the school and drove back toward Youngstown Road, while the suspects returned to their vehicle and fled the scene.
While speaking with officers, the victim pointed out a hole in the front bumper of his truck, which he believed was caused by one of the shots fired by the suspects.
Officers confirmed the damage and noted that the suspects were using pistols during the incident. Despite a thorough search of the area, officers were unable to locate any shell casings at the time of the report.
The victim was provided with an incident number and advised to contact his local police department regarding the theft of the iPad.
