WARREN -- A Sharpsville, Pa., man was sentenced Wednesday to 11 to 16.5 years in prison after being found guilty of trafficking and cocaine possession, both first-degree felonies, by a Trumbull County jury.
Common Pleas Judge Cynthia Westcott Rice handed down the sentence following the Monday conviction.
The defendant, Donteill M. Grant, 45, was classified as a "major drug offender" after police discovered nearly 500 grams of cocaine, valued at $10,000, during a traffic stop in Brookfield on July 11, 2023.
Grant fled from officers during the stop, running across state Route 82, before he was apprehended. Police found a quart-sized bag containing crack and powder cocaine in his cargo pants pocket. Video footage from body and dash cameras documented the entire incident.
According to Brookfield police Chief Aaron Kasiewicz, this is the largest drug arrest on record.
Grant previously served 13 years in prison in Mahoning County for voluntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery and other offenses.
