Niles man sentenced in Tractor Supply robbery

By Chris McBride 1 min read

WARREN -- A Niles man convicted of robbing the Tractor Supply store on Elm Road in Howland was sentenced Tuesday to 24 months in prison by Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan.

Daniel T. Campbell, 44, of West Park Avenue, Niles, previously pleaded guilty to the third-degree felony charge on July 26. Logan determined, based on Campbell's criminal history, which included 11 prior felony convictions -- four of which were violent offenses -- the defendant was not eligible for parole.

According to a Howland police report, the suspect, identified as Campbell, ran out of the supply store around 7 p.m. the evening of Dec 9, 2023. Campbell was accused of stealing an electric fireplace, a black jacket and a white hat valued at around $400. Store employees pursued Campbell as he fled, witnessing him strike a woman in an attempt to force her to drive him away from the scene.

Reports state that Campbell dropped the fireplace in the parking lot, after which he and the woman fled on foot.

Investigators later identified Campbell, and the stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.
