NEWTON FALLS -- A Newton Falls man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl had his case bound over to a Trumbull County grand jury on Tuesday.
Terry L. Weekly, 55, faces a charge of rape in connection to the reported rape of a minor in the Newton Falls School District. Superintendent Andreas Johansson confirmed the assault did not take place on school grounds, but it was reported to authorities at the school.
"We always are going to do what's best for the kids and support our kids to whatever level that we can," Johansson said.
Weekly was arrested Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He remains in the Trumbull County jail on a $250,000 bond following a hearing Tuesday in Newton Falls Municipal Court. If he is released, he is prohibited from having contact with minors.
His next legal proceeding will depend on the outcome of the grand jury's review of the case. According to a report from the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office, the assault happened Oct. 22.
