Execution moved for death row inmate Stanley Adams
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has issued a reprieve of execution for Trumbull County death row inmate Stanley Adams, who was convicted in the 1999 beating death of Esther Cook and the rape and strangulation death of her daughter, Ashley Cook.
Adams, 58, originally was to be executed on Feb. 19, 2025. His new execution date is Feb. 16, 2028, according to a news release from DeWine’s office.
DeWine is issuing the reprieve because of ongoing problems involving the willingness of pharmaceutical suppliers to provide drugs to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction to carry out the death penalty, the release states.
