BRACEVILLE -- A Newton Falls man was killed Saturday evening in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 534.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren Post is investigating the crash, which happened after 7 p.m. Saturday.
Reports indicate a 2002 Chevy Impala driven by Mark Hillier, 35, of Newton Falls, was northbound on State Route 534 when he traveled left of center and sideswiped a 2005 Lexus sedan driven by Eric Suchko, 64, of Greensburg, Pa.
The Impala redirected from impact and drove off the right side of the road where it overturned multiple times, reports state.
Reports indicate Hillier was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. Hillier was pronounced dead at the scene.
The OHP reported the occupants of the Lexus, who were wearing their seatbelts, did not report any injuries.
The Trumbull County coroner, Braceville fire and police departments and Underwood's Towing assisted at the scene.
The OHP reports the crash remains under investigation, though speed is believed to be a contributing factor.
Officials said during the 2023 Labor Day holiday weekend, there were 11 fatalities in which safety belts were available and 10 were unbelted.
Motorists are advised to wear seatbelts.
