New sewer line coming to Bazetta

Homeowners on Perkins Jones Road can tap into private project

By RUSSELL BRICKEY 2 min read

BAZETTA -- The developers of the Project Penguin warehouse will build a privately funded sewer line along a length of Perkins Jones Road NE, and residents with frontage on the road can connect without paying a frontage fee to the Trumbull County.

Township Zoning Inspector Pete Pizzulo made the announcement Monday at the third quarterly meeting of the Bazetta Township Zoning Commission. Residents still will need to pay the $1,800 tap-in fee to the county, Pizzulo said, and residents will have to hire their own contractors, but the reduction in cost to connect to a sewer line is significant.

Costs of hooking into a sewer line can run anywhere from $500 to $1,500 by some estimates online. Hooking into the sewer line is entirely voluntary, Pizzulo said. The planned line will run from Bazetta Road to the S-curve in Perkins Jones Road, he added.

The Ambrose Property Group is the developer of the new $30 million warehouse. The project has not broken ground yet, but should within the calendar year, Pizzulo said.

Anyone interested in hooking into the new sewer line should contact Pizzulo at the Bazetta Township Zoning Office: ppizzulo@bazettatwp.org

The trustees also read a resolution governing the placement and maintenance of solar panels on residents' houses to maintain the safety and character of Bazetta. The resolution contains revised wording from a previous draft because the state regulations relating to solar installations changed, according to Township Administrative Secretary Deanna Longo. A second public reading of the resolution is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 30 at Bazetta Township Hall, 3372 state Route 5 NE.

In other business, the commission:
