WARREN -- An 18-year-old was arraigned Monday morning after police discovered he was carrying a firearm while searching the area around Rock Bottom Cafe following a reported shooting on Saturday.
Tre'Von Kelly, of Orchard Avenue SE, appeared before Warren Municipal Court Judge Natasha Natale and pleaded not guilty to charges of carrying concealed weapons, a fourth-degree felony, and a misdemeanor charge of discharging firearms.
Bond was set at $50,000 with another court date for Kelly set for Aug. 20.
Police responded to a bar in the 1600 block of North Park Avenue early Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:02 a.m., Warren police were dispatched to the scene following reports of shots fired, after Trumbull County 911 Dispatch reported a white vehicle fleeing northbound and a possible person down in the parking lot.
Upon arrival, no one was found on the ground, but two women in a vehicle appeared frightened, with one passenger covered in dirt. She told officers she heard gunshots and dropped to the ground, noticing two males running southbound.
A search of the area resulted in police encountering Kelly and a juvenile. Kelly was found carrying a loaded semi-automatic pistol in his pocket.
He claimed he and the juvenile had been shot at and he returned fire, shooting two rounds at a "white male with a beard," though no casings were found at the scene. Kelly was arrested and taken to Trumbull County Jail, while the juvenile was released.
