WHAT: Township trustees meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Cindy Speaker, Dan Tietz and Charles Hagman
Trustees:
• Said they received calls from residents complaining of a vacant property off Halsey Fusselman Road with many inoperable vehicles. Residents who live near the property have reported vandalism and other issues. The zoning department is addressing the matter to get the property cleaned up.
• Approved the purchase of a portable public address system, speaker and amplifier for the park at $950 from JED Services, using American Rescue Plan funds.
• Will have seven miles of township roads chipped and sealed by Southington and Nelson Township road workers at $11,500 per mile. A total of 1,500 tons of grindings for the road at a cost not to exceed $30,000 was also approved for the work.
• Approved auction on GovDeals.com for a fire tanker out of service. Fire officials are seeking grants and other available funding for a replacement vehicle that costs $583,000.
• Reported there are still some days residents off U.S. Route 422 smell an odor coming from a gas well in Warren Township.
• Announced Southington school children will be touring the township hall, fire station, gazebo and Chalker building Friday morning.
