WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday.
PRESENT: Patricia Benetis, Brian Axiotis, Brenda Persino, Kevin Rufener, Julie Stimpert and Mayor David Hanson.
Council:
• Approved purchase of a 2024 Ford F-550 truck from Sarchione Ford Lincoln at $72,730 and equipment for the truck from Quality Truck Body at $59,998 for use in the maintenance department to haul and remove snow. The new truck, which will arrive in two months, replaces a 1993 vehicle. Village manager Mike Novonty said repairs to the 1993 vehicle have been expensive with most recent costs reaching $10,000.
• Heard from Novotny the planned Dunkin' at state Routes 5 and 534 will begin construction later this month. He said project officials are finalizing their plans to get approved and will then be applying for permits.
• Approved a $500 donation to the Eagle Creek Conservation Club for the annual youth fishing derby set for June 2 at the pond by the community center.
• Heard from Stimpert that the fire district board met and the fire building on First Street is up for sale. She said the board is looking for ways to ensure proper coverage of the fire district due to low staffing levels.
• Announced a flag retirement ceremony will be May 25 at the memorial park.
• Approved expanding the duties of the council clerk to also include the development of a comprehensive plan for the gathering and dissemination of public records.
