NEWTON FALLS -- A first-of-its kind range is opening at Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center that will make the installation one of the premiere training sites across the National Guard.
Officials said a ceremonial first shot event will be Tuesday at the new range, will be used to train and test soldiers on the marksmanship skills necessary to zero detect, identify, engage and defeat stationary infantry and armor targets in a tactical array, according to a news release from the Ohio National Guard.
