WARREN -- Police responded to a call late Friday about an assault that led to a woman's prosthetic eye being gouged out after a fight over a parking space.
The woman explained to Warren police that a physical altercation ensued over a parking spot dispute at an apartment complex at 2718 Duke Ave. SE. The attacker's name was redacted from the report, but she made a report of her own for the same incident. The pending charge in the report is listed as criminal damaging or endangering.
The victim told police she told her neighbor there were no assigned parking spaces after her neighbor became angry about her choice of parking.
The neighbor came out of her residence about 9 p.m. on Friday with a large baseball bat, and struck the hood of the victim's car with it, causing a dent.
The victim said she moved her vehicle directly in front of her home after the confrontation.
A second attacker, listed as the granddaughter of the woman who used the bat, began yelling at the victim, saying the woman knew not to park in "their spot."
"The victim stated that the older suspect ran at her with a knife and tried to stab her," the report states. "The victim stated that she grabbed the knife with her left hand and punched the older suspect in the head with her right. The victim showed officers a cut to her left palm where she stated the knife cut her while she grabbed it from the older suspect."
After hitting the older woman, the victim said she began to fall backwards onto the ground. She then stated that the younger woman ran up to her and began to swing at her, until she was hit and knocked down. The older woman then began to hit her in the head with a bat or large stick of some kind, the report states.
As one of the women held her by the hair and hit her in the head, the victim also said the younger woman was on top of her and began gouging at the victim's eyes with her fingers.
"The victim stated that her prosthetic eye was gouged from her eye socket and that the eye went missing and is believed to have been taken by one of the suspects," an officer wrote in the report.
After another bat was used in the incident, the victim told police that a gun also became involved. The victim stated that the older woman threatened to kill her and her kids, the police report states.
The victim stated that she and her children got into her vehicle, left the residence and stayed out of town for the night, before returning and going to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. She also told police that she fears for her safety if she returns home because of the attack and threats on her and her childrens' lives.
