WARREN -- Police on Friday identified the man shot to death Tuesday as Howard Dorsey, 35.
His death is the second homicide in 2024 in Warren.
Police responded around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday to a shots fired call at 1028 Lovers Lane NW, where they found Dorsey shot.
In a recorded 911 call, a woman told dispatchers her friend, identified only as Howard, of Bonnie Brae Avenue SE, Warren, had been shot and was lying on the dining room floor, bleeding from his mouth. She said she was awakened by gunshots while asleep on the couch and saw two men run away as she woke up.
She attempted to check on Howard's condition but was uncertain if he was still alive. The woman also told dispatchers a gun was on the floor.
Upon arrival, police provided immediate aid. Dorsey was taken to Trumbull Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Detective Frank Tempesta is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 330-841-2651.
The city's first homicide victim, Jont'e Davis, 33, a U.S. Postal Service employee, was fatally shot March 2 while inside his postal van on Olive Avenue NE. He died of his injuries at Trumbull Regional.
Investigations are ongoing in the cases.
