WHAT: Township trustee meetings

Trustees:
• Hired Nick Rapczak as a part-time cemetery / road worker seasonal laborer at $15 per hour not to exceed 1,040 hours.
• Approved $36,000 to Mariani's Welding and Fabricating in Lordstown to replace the deck on the cemetery walkbridge and repair rust spots. Work also includes priming, painting and maintenance work. The cemetery bridge connects the East Cemetery and West Cemetery. American Rescue Plan funds will cover costs.
• Renewed agreement with i-Panda for one year to work on the township website hosting / maintenance.
• Approved $100 donation each for American Legion Post 236, AMVETS 112, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3332 and Army-Navy Garrison 271 for Memorial Day events.
• Announced spring cleanup 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4 and 5 at the township road department. The township received a $2,623 scrap tire grant and a $3,500 Go Green Grant from Geauga, Trumbull Solid Waste Management District.
• Approved road improvement work on the west side of Carson Salt Springs Road which is an Ohio Public Works Commission project, with a maximum of $75,000 in Issue II funds approved.
• Addressed inquiries regarding work performed as part of the Scott St. Phase II Sewer Project. They clarified to residents that this is the village's project and it will benefit the community by eliminating raw sewage discharge into the river and improving roads in the area after work is complete. Some inquiries were referred to the village.
• Received a request from resident Pam Priddy about possible use of the township hall for a senior luncheon program. Officials said there is a capacity limit of 40 people and the town hall is not big enough for the lunch program. Augusta said no decision was made.
• Approved Dugic Tree Service of Warren to remove trees at the cemetery at $2,100.
• Agreed to submit for OPWC funding for Phase 2 of Salt Springs and requested quotes from the county on additional 2024 road work to be considered.
• Rescheduled the next meeting to 6:30 p.m. May 30 due to Memorial Day holiday.
