WHAT: Board of Education meeting April 15

PRESENT: Aaron Abrahamson, Patricia Fisher, David Mahan, John Pitts and James Scher

The board:

• Approved graduation for 100 seniors at 6 p.m. May 18 at the high school stadium with five valedictorians and one salutatorian.

• Approved five-year contracts for Treasurer Laurena Rouan, Elementary School Principal Alexandra Nannicola and Middle School Principal Heather Campbell. The three will receive a 3% pay increase. Rouan makes $103,403, Nannicola makes $104,373 and Campbell makes $106,658. Rouan's and Nannicola's contracts are from Aug. 1 to July 31, 2029 and Campbell's is from Aug 1, 2025 to July 31, 2030.

• Approved setting a salary schedule for non-union classified workers 2023-24 to 2025-26. Rouan said there are 22 employees who work 19 hours per week or less or are secretaries and office staff who will receive a 3% pay increase or a 50 cents-per-hour increase based on position.

• Approved a full-time special education administrative secretary at 194 days per year.

• Accepted the retirement resignation of bus driver Robert Brady after 13 years.

• Heard from third-grade teacher Courtney Schimley that students took part in a birdhouse project which they built and sold.

• Reported that Mike Wilson, who portrays President William McKinley and is the director at SCOPE, was selected as Senior Citizen of Year at the Swing into Spring banquet at the high school. The event is hosted by the Champion Rotary Club.
