WARREN -- A man secretly indicted by a Trumbull county grand jury pleaded not guilty Thursday to the 2023 fatal shooting of 36-year-old Eric Shannon.
Rashawn Jordan, 36, of Belmont Street, Warren, appeared before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice on Thursday, where he pleaded not guilty to murder and having weapons under disability charge.
Rice then ordered Jordan be held in Trumbull County jail without bond because of a lengthy violent criminal history. The defendant will have a pretrial hearing in Rice's court on March 19.
The shooting death Jordan stands accused of occurred around 8 p.m. Sept 24 in the area on McMyler Street NW and Parkman Road.
Police responded to the 1100 block of McMyler after reports of shots fired leading officers to the discovery of Shannon on the porch. Paramedics attempted to perform CPR, but the 36-year-old later was pronounced dead. A dispatch call sheet indicates a neighbor said Shannon and another neighbor had been fighting all day prior to the shooting.
