Trumbull County commissioners are expected to vote to approve using $30,000 of county funds to provide as a local match for the Trumbull County Transportation Improvement District.
The TID has recommended applying for a $250,000 grant to be used to place a left turn lane on Mines Road and state Route 46.
"We are seeking $10,000 from the property owner and the Trumbull County Engineer's Office has volunteered to provide $10,000," Trumbull County Commissioner Denny Malloy said.
A 50% local match is being sought to receive the $250,000 grant.
"This local match will make us competitive," Malloy said.
"We can use the money for the detailed design phase of the route improvement."
Malloy said traffic in that area is expected to increase because of the Divergin Diamond interchange construction, which is expected to last three years.
"Hopefully, if the Transportation Improvement District receives the grant funds we will have two years of easier traffic," Malloy said.
