Trustees:
• Reported a groundbreaking was held for the TownePlace Suites by Mariott off Motor Inn Drive and near Interstate 80. The 57,000-square-foot hotel will have 96 rooms. The project will cost $10 million, and the hotel is being planned by Steel and Liberty LLC. Officials said they were told construction will take more than a year and be completed by spring or summer 2025 with about 30 new jobs. County commissioners had previously approved a 75%, 10-year tax abatement for the hotel.
• Accepted the resignation of firefighter Mike Carson as a full-time firefighter effective March 16. He will continue as a part-time firefighter.
• Announced township cleanup day is set for April 20.
• Canceled meetings set for March 22 and April 1.
