LORDSTOWN -- Village officials paid tribute to Street Superintendent Ronald Hickox who died last week.
He had served in the post for past three years.
Mayor Jaclyn Woodward said the village appreciated all that Hickox did for Lordstown wgile handling the streets and other projects in the community.
Councilman Lamar Liming, streets and sidewalks chairman, said he and others were saddened by Hickox's death and noted he helped the village in many ways.
The village has road staff filling in for the duties Hickox performed and will be moving to find a new superintendent.
Champion Township trustees also on Monday remembered Hickox, who served Champion in the road department and for Mentor city before going to Lordstown. Hickox was a Champion resident.
Hickox earned a bachelor's degree in construction technology from Bowling Green State University. He was active in the community and ran for different positions.
Also at Lordstown's meeting, police Chief Brent Milhoan said he will meet Wednesday with representatives of the Ohio Collaborative Community Police Advisory Board to discuss available grants.
He said the village has secured funds for body cameras for police officers.
Milhoan said the state has a number of retired police chiefs who travel around the state and assist police departments obtain certification needed for grants.
Also, the police department is renewing its agreement with Hudson Communication at $3,720 for one year for radio console maintenance.
The department also renewed its agreement with Lexipol for manual and daily training bulletins at $5,300 for one year, which will help with police policy and procedures.
