BRACEVILLE -- Some residents here Tuesday expressed their concerns to trustees about the increased littering and dumping in parts of the township.
Resident Theodore Toles III said he has noticed increased trash and litter along Braceville Robinson Road and in the area where the Ohio Turnpike goes over the road. He asked if signs can be posted to discourage littering.
"There is litter there all the time. I have seen a lot of trash," Toles said.
Other residents said Dover Street also has had littering.
Trustee Chairman Todd Garland said he will see if there are local Boy Scouts or other organizations that would want to adopt a road or section of a road to take care of. He said the township can also look at scheduling a community clean up day.
Fiscal Officer Tom Shay said he will check with the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District to provide vests and bags for volunteers to use.
In other business, officials discussed the Leavittsburg Dam removal in neighboring Warren Township.
Garland said a section of the township known as the Eagle Creek area floods all the time with heavy rains.
He said officials have been told that if the dam is removed and the water level is lowered, there will likely be less flooding in the Eagle Creek Road area.
Warren Township trustees and some residents are fighting to stop the dam from being removed. The dam is owned by the Trumbull County MetroParks, which is moving forward with removal.

l Heard from Trustee Dennis Kuchta that plans are being made for a public solar eclipse event April 8 by the township road and fire departments. He said vendors will be there to sell items. Activities are also being planned.
l Heard from members of the committee working to establish an African-American History Museum at a historic home on Cedar Street that plans are to get the museum opened around July 1.
