WARREN -- A Warren woman pleaded guilty to a charge of child endangering related to a 15-week-old baby she was babysitting having been exposed to fentanyl.
Alfreda M. Provitt, 47, of 2300 Plaza Avenue NE, Warren, appeared before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Cynthia Rice on Tuesday.
Provitt is due back in Rice's court for sentencing after a background investigation is completed by probation officers.
Investigators on July 12 were called to the Elms apartment on Plaza Avenue after Provitt reported that the child she was watching had stopped breathing.
Police described the baby's skin as having changed to gray.
The boy was rushed to the hospital where he was given Narcan for rapid opioid reversal, which helped the child regain consciousness, and later was taken to Akron Children's Hospital.
Prosecutors say the baby was treated for two weeks and now at almost a year old still suffers vision problems and seizures.
