WHAT: Village council meetings Feb. 7 and 21
PRESENT: Kyle Joynes, Sean Schmidt, Kerry Reckard, Chad Jones, John Metzinger, Don Smith and Mayor Ray Lewis
Council:
• Gave first reading for a fire department tuition assistance program where $2,500 is provided to help reimburse fire staff taking required classes and training. The mayor and fire chief will evaluate each request, with a cap to be set per person. Training is required for firefighters, emergency medical technicians and paramedics.
• Submitted an application for a NOPEC grant totaling $4,198 for LED light upgrades, electrical upgrades and energy-saving electricity projects.
• Recognized police officer John O'Neill, and firefighters Dara Sandy and David Bontrager for recently helping a resident in need.
• Set an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. March 23 at Woodland Park hosted by local Girl Scouts and the high school National Honor Society.
