Council:
• Heard from Zuppo the "Willie Constantino Employee of the Month Award" has been started to recognize employees for their work. He said the award is to remember Constantino, who was a longtime employee.
• Heard from Safety / Service Director Sal Ponzio the American Legion has asked for assistance to have handicapped parking and access entrance off High Street to the building.
• Reported that Mike Scoville was appointed superintendent of the wastewater treatment plant.
• Is seeking qualifications for engineering services for the city because engineer Don Meeks is retiring this year.
• Heard from Warren Councilman Greg Greathouse that Warren is acquiring and converting Ohio Edison lights to LED lights to save money. He said the project is going to cost $2.8 million.
• Heard from resident Ed Semple, who said Trumbull County's gas aggregation rate is $3.99 per mcf with Constellation Energy, which is lower than the Girard's rate of $5.99 per mcf.
• Heard from fire Chief James Petruzzi that work is being done to address problems with sirens at the fire station.
• Entered into an agreement with Browning Ferris Industries for garbage and refuse collection. Officials said as part of the agreement, trash bins will be available for customers.
