WARREN -- Eleven people, including one couple, have been chosen as the 22nd class of Community Stars.
The program, sponsored by the Tribune Chronicle, recognizes the brightest examples of community service and the people who do those good deeds. Trumbull 100 is co-sponsoring for the 14th year.
The Community Stars program celebrates volunteers who go above and beyond to make a measurable impact in the community and the lives of others.
Stories about the 10 winners will appear in a special section in the Tribune Chronicle and will debut at an awards dinner on April 17 at the St. Demetrios Community Center in Warren.
The winners were chosen from dozens of nominees.
"Like in past years, it was difficult for the committee to choose the winners because all of the nominees were worthy of their nomination. But we have a solid class of winners this year," said Sue Shafer, community events coordinator for the Tribune Chronicle.
This year's community stars are:
• Kathlene Anerino of Warren.
• Ronald A. Currey of Warren, who was nominated by 2022 winner Allen Briggs.
• Barbara Drake of Newton Falls
• Jenny Falvey of Warren
• Andrew and Melissa Mullins of Warren, who received multiple nominations.
• Sandy Mahaffey of Girard
• Chelsea Munroe of Cortland
• James Rapone of Warren, who also received multiple nominations
• Jordan Taylor of Warren
• Jack Thornton of Warren
Tickets for the April 17 banquet at the St. Demetrios Community Center are $30 and are available by contacting Shafer at 330-841-1696 or sshafer@tribtoday.com. Ticket order forms also will run periodically in the newspaper.
