NILES -- The case of a woman accused of stabbing a man during a domestic dispute that turned physical was bound over Monday to a grand jury in Niles Municipal Court.
Jalynda Owens, 26, pleaded not guilty and waived a preliminary hearing to which Judge Christopher Shaker ordered the case bound over. Owens faces charges of third-degree tampering with evidence and fifth-degree obstruction in connection with the Jan. 17 stabbing of a man on Niles Cortland Road NE in Warren.
Police consulted with Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Becker before filing the low-level felony charges.
Police were called around 3 a.m. to 1556 Niles Cortland Road by the victim, K'vonn Lavell Watson, 29, who later died at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
The report stated that when police arrived, Watson was found conscious in the living room of the apartment with a knife wound to his chest. Paramedics that arrived worked on Watson before he was taken to the hospital. Police say they were able to speak with Watson before he later died.
Owens was arrested that same day and held in Trumbull County Jail. She's since been out after posting a $25,000 bail.
