NILES -- Police have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing early Wednesday as Kvonn Lavell Watson of Warren.

Watson, 29, of Union Street SW, was found at 1556 Niles Cortland Road after Niles police received a call about 3 a.m. from him saying he was stabbed, according to a statement from Niles police.

Jalynda Owens, 27, was arrested Wednesday and charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing, both felonies, in connection with the death of Watson, according to Capt. John Marshall.

Midnight turn officers, Niles Fire Department and Lane Ambulance arrived at the apartment to find Watson conscious in the living room of the residence, with a knife wound to his chest, according to police.

The release states Watson spoke to officers before being transported to St. Joseph Warren Hospital where he later died.

Niles police are receiving help from the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office with the case, according to Niles police Chief Jay Holland.

Owens is being held in the Trumbull County jail on $25,000 bond following her first appearance Wednesday in Niles Municipal Court. She is due back in court Monday.

Further charges against Owens might be pending, following review, Marshall said.
