One foot in the past, one in the future
Middlefield man has a career in computers and an interest in history

MIDDLEFIELD -- Corey Wright dabbles in the past and in the future.
Wright has been a consultant with DeveloCo for nearly five years. DeveloCo is an information technology company that provides sales force consulting and web development services.
When he is not fixing computers and designing websites, he is the president of the Middlefield Historical Society, which he has been doing for the past four years.
Wright, 37, is the son of Fred and Sheila Wright. He was born in Chardon, but his family moved to Middlefield before he turned 2.
He is a 2005 graduate of Cardinal High School, and a Case Western Reserve graduate. His undergraduate degree is a combined engineering degree and mechanical aerospace degree. He also has a master's degree from Case in engineering management.
Wright's father was an electrical engineer with various companies and is now doing some consulting. His mother was a preschool teacher where Wright went to preschool. She became a stay-at-home mom when he entered elementary school. He has two siblings, Tommy and Angie.
"I've always been interested in technology. I fix computers."
Before working with DeveloCo, Wright was able to do a lot of consulting work on his own.
"Website design, IT work, computer repair, things like that," he said.
When Wright was in middle school, the village contacted his art teacher about a mural project to see if there were any students interested in doing the project.
"Me and a few of my friends expressed interest in working on the project," Wright said.
The original mural project (on the Middlefield Tavern) was done by students the summer before they would enter high school.
Wright was the first volunteer at the Depot ice cream shop (located behind Pizza Hut) when it opened 25 years ago, and he worked there during the summers.
"The ice cream shop was run by the Historical Society since they owned the building. About four years ago, they were having trouble finding volunteers to work there and they talked about having to close it down. So, I stepped up and volunteered a couple of times that summer and that kind of got me reengaged with the historical society," Wright explained.
This led to him becoming a board member and he was elected president in 2020.
The Middlefield Historical Society meets once a month nine months out of the year. It hosts fundraisers, including a summer yard sale and a festival of trees.
"And, of course, the ice cream Depot is open June through August, just some different ways to engage the community. I've always liked history," Wright said.
He is considering having some Sunday teas this year.
Wright has been married for two years to the former Carolyn Kriebel, who does marketing for the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities. They live near Cleveland with their labradoodle, Waffles.
He has a variety of interests, including playing the guitar, bicycling, camping, boating,and being near the water in general. Wright said he also enjoys doing home improvement projects in their townhouse.
